Tweaking Windows Explorer default behavior

Opening Windows explorer from the taskbar icon takes you to the Library location by default. If you are annoyed with this behavior you can easily change the default location by following these steps:

The Windows explorer icon on the taskbar is the folder image next to the Start menu button if you did not swap its location with another icon! In the image below it is next to Internet explorer :) Right-click on the icon as shown below:

Then right-click Windows Explorer and select Properties. From the Windows Explorer Properties window modify the text in the Target: text field, adding your desired default location as shown below:

The Target field supports shell extensions as well, for example: use

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:MyComputerFolder – to load the Computer window or

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:Start Menu – to list the Start menu items as shown below:
