Showing Administrative Tools on the Start Menu

Windows 7 advanced users such as; administrators would normally invoke system tools like Computer Management, System Configuration, Performance Monitor, and others quite often, and would like a quick and easy way to access these tools from one place. By default, Windows 7 does not display Administrative Tools on the Start Menu.

Find Malware using Windows Defender

Windows Defender Offline Beta can detect malicious and potentially unwanted software, and then notify you of the risks and is able to scan for malicious code even before Windows boots. The new version is available in beta, in both 32- and 64-bit editions and you can run it off a CD, DVD or USB flash drive. This makes it possible to detect rootkits and other boot process malware.

Performance Options in Windows 7

Windows 7 has a number of performance parameters that allows you to adjust visual effects or specify whether the system is adjusted for best performance of applications or background services. From the Performance Options snap-in you can configure the virtual memory (page file) settings and Data Execution Prevention (DEP). To access these parameters from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools click Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows. Otherwise, you can type Performance Options in the Start search text box, click Performance Information and Tools, click Advanced tools and finally click Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
